Maleme Village


Maleme village has about 850 inhabitants, is located at a distance of 17 km west of Chania Town. Before the Second World War this was the site of the Hania airport, where in 1941 the villagers took part in the "Battle of Crete" trying to keep parachutists from invading the island. Today, Maleme is very much developed as a tourist resort, attracting great numbers of visitors during the summer months. From Maleme you have easy access to the Kafkales hill site, where you will see the ruins of a hatched grave dating from the later minoan period, as well as the German Cemetary


This is a really blessed place. After a lazy day in the beach you can walk in the full of flowers streets in the village of Maleme and many restaurants and Tavernas with delichious Cretan cuisine and Cretan hospitality are waiting for you.

Maleme village is a fully organized small society with  Medical Center, drugstores, School, Banks ATM, Gas Stations, Hotels, Rooms to let, Studios, Villas, Restaurants, Tavernas, Cafe, Bars, Clubs, Disco, Travel Agencies, Jewelleries, Rent a Car and many other touristic or not enterprises which make Maleme a nice touristic center of Crete. 

Maleme has thousand of olive trees, oranges, tangerines, lemon trees and almost all kind of plants, vegetables and fruits!
The best olive oil comes from Chania area and Maleme village!
